The SUNY Canton Applied Psychology Program
seeks applicants for a tenure track Assistant Professor Faculty
position in Counseling Psychology. Other ranks considered. This position will serve an undergraduate curriculum focused on applications of psychology and human services beginning in August 2020.
Responsibilities: A 4/4 teaching load, which may use traditional face-to-face, online, hybrid, and converged delivery methods. Teaching assignments may include courses in Introductory Psychology, Abnormal Psychology, Counseling Theories and Skills, Developmental Psychology, and additional courses related to group counseling, and working in the mental health field. Ability to teach courses in the area of chemical dependency is an asset, but not required. Advising and mentoring students. Collaborative participation in course, curriculum, and program development and assessment. Participation in campus, university, and community service activities. Regular engagement in professional development and relevant scholarly activity.
Minimally, earned Terminal Master’s degree in field (e.g., Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, etc.) AND license with prior professional experience. Previous college teaching experience. Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching and research. Interest in active and collaborative learning and the use of technology for online, hybrid, and converged teaching.
Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Counseling Psychology or related discipline (e.g., Social Work) from an APA- or CSWE-approved program. Current CASAC credential or the ability to qualify for such credential in New York State is an asset. Prior online teaching experience, including courses as listed above.
